It’s time to organize the Senior Christmas Project for 2012. For many years, the Concord Township trustee has gathered names of senior citizens who, without the help of kindhearted community residents, would not have a very merry Christmas. These seniors live on fixed incomes without any money left over for extra food, medicine or other items they may need.

Last year we were able to surprise 125 seniors with $25 gift cards to area stores. The gift cards were enclosed in a Christmas card signed “Christmas Blessing” from an anonymous donor. Each year, we are amazed at the generosity of community residents.

While there are many worthy charities in the community that help people during the holidays, few help seniors. You can help by purchasing a $25 gift card or by making a cash donation and we will purchase the gift cards.

We receive many calls and thank-you cards from the recipients who are surprised that someone would think of them. They are very grateful for that little extra money for groceries or a needed item.

We need your donation by Nov. 26 to allow us to complete the project before Christmas. Please help put a smile on one of our seniors’ faces by stopping by our office or by mailing a check or gift card.
