GOSHEN — A mistake in Elkhart County’s 2013 budget that gave pay raises to elected officials will be corrected in January.

Elkhart County Council president John Letherman caught the error shortly after the spending plan was approved. He said Saturday that the council would be able to amend the budget at the board’s first meeting of the new year.

Letherman said at the end of September that the addition of $752 for each of the seven council members was an oversight. He said he plans to ask for $5,264 to be removed from the budget in January.
