Elkhart man charged with promoting prostitution, conspiracy to commit murder appears in court

Elkhart Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Indiana Avenue around 5:25 a.m., where they located a 30-year-old man who was shot.
one of suspects arrested was Jose Pena.

Pena has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, a Class A felony, and promoting prostitution, a Class C felony. The judge entered a plea of not guilty for him at the time and appointed him a public defender.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Pena provided a gun to his co-defendant, Devarious Cantrell, 22, to shoot the victim.
The probable cause affidavit also states that Pena received money or other property from a prostitute.
