Driver ignores stop sign near Goshen, injures three others
Juan Najera, 50, of Syracuse; Ricky Bryant, 50, of New Paris; and Angel Bryant, 37, of New Paris, were hurt in the crash at U.S. 33 and C.R. 42 shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. Each suffered non-life-threatening injuries, said sheriff’s Patrolman Cam McDowell in a press release.
The crash happened when a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Dylan White, 19, of New Paris, disregarded the stop sign at westbound C.R. 42, entering the intersection with U.S. 33 and hitting a northbound 1998 GMC Sonoma driven by Najera. Najera’s pickup truck spun and was hit by a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ricky Bryant, said police.
Najera was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was listed in serious condition with a back injury on Saturday afternoon. Ricky Bryant was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital with a chest injury and broken ankle. Angel Bryant, a passenger in Ricky Bryant’s pickup, suffered from chest pain and was also taken to the Goshen hospital.
White was not injured in the crash. He was given a ticket for disregarding a stop sign.
