Spann was arrested Nov. 21, 2011, and was charged with four counts of armed robbery, all of which were Class B felonies. He pleaded guilty to his charges Oct. 12.
Before receiving his sentencing, Spann and his attorney, chief public defender Cliff Williams told the court Spann had made many mistakes, but he realized what he had done and was working to become a better person.
“I’m very, very remorseful for the pain I inflicted on these people. I would never, in the right state of mind, want to hurt somebody as much as I did. I just hope they find faith in God to forgive me.”
