United Steelworkers files suit against Cequent

GOSHEN — United Steel Workers International filed a lawsuit against Cequent Performance Products Inc. today, Nov. 8.

The suit was filed on behalf of over 350 Local 9550 members to prohibit the company from relocating production of Reese Trailer hitches from Goshen to Reynosa, Mexico.

Cequent, a subsidiary of TriMas Corporation in Bloomfield, Mich., has been comtemplating moving production to Mexico because of lower wages. Cequent said a final decision would be reached by Nov. 19.
