Two taken to hospital after crash north of Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Two passengers were taken to the hospital with complaints of pain after one driver disregarded a traffic light.

Martha Powell was heading eastbound on S.R. 120 west of S.R. 13 while Sharon King was going northbound on S.R. 13 south of S.R. 120. According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Powell disregarded the red light at the intersection of S.R. 120 and S.R. 13 and drove into King’s path.

King crashed into Powell’s passenger side. King had two passengers in the car, who were both taken to Elkhart General Hospital. Powell had one passenger, who was not transported to the hospital.

Powell was uninjured and was issued a citation for disregarding an automatic signal.
