Three injured in crash on C.R. 16 west of Elkhart Sunday

ELKHART — Three people were taken to Elkhart General Hospital after a crash on C.R. 16 west of Elkhart Sunday.

According to a release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Rachel Jankowski, 24, of South Bend, was driving east on C.R. 16, west of C.R. 1, at 12:56 p.m. Sunday when she drove left of center.

Her car then struck the front end of a vehicle driven by Michael Troyer II, 35 of Elkhart, who was headed west on C.R. 16.

Jankowski was taken to Elkhart General Hospital complaining of pain to the right side of her chest.

A passenger in Jankowski’s car, Anthony Klein, 21, of Elkhart, was also taken to Elkhart General for treatment of neck, back and chest pain. A second passenger was uninjured.

Troyer was also taken to Elkhart General complaining of neck, back and chest pain.

Jankowski was cited for driving left of center.
