A man was sent to the hospital early Friday morning after being shot in Elkhart.

Elkhart Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Indiana Avenue around 5:25 a.m., where they located a 30-year-old man who was shot in the upper thigh area, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department.

He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released.

According to the press release, the case has been forwarded to the Detective Bureau for investigation.
