Elkhart man arrested for growing marijuana in his house
David Benn, 55, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance, cultivating more than 30 grams of marijuana and possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department. All three preliminary charges are a felonies that carry a maximum penalty of three years in prison.
Officers with the Elkhart Police Department drug unit, community affairs bureau, patrol division and Indiana State Police searched the residence around 11:30 a.m., finding 43 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and drug paraphernalia, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department.
Officers also found equipment used for the cultivations of marijuana, two pounds of marijuana and a Ruger .22 caliber rifle.
