More fungal meningitis cases were reported in Indiana over the weekend, but none were in Elkhart County, according to a local health official.

Dr. Dan Nafziger said Monday that Elkhart County’s count of confirmed infections stands at 29. Indiana has identified 45 people in the state who have developed fungal meningitis, a rare condition that has now spread to 19 states after tainted back pain medications were distributed to clinics across the country.

More than 350 people have reported fungal meningitis infections since the beginning of October. Among the 25 people whose deaths have been attributed to the infection, three have been in Elkhart County.
