NORMAN, Okla. — Despite being picked apart by Landry Jones, Notre Dame is holding onto a 10-6 lead over Oklahoma at the half.

After two quarters, the Sooners quarterback is 18-27 for 194 passing yards but has no touchdowns to show for it.

Jones looked to be setting the tempo early after five quick plays to open the game that set the Irish reeling. Jones pushed the ball forward 37 yards on five plays before a bad snap sailed over his head and backwards 19 yards.

It was the momentum shift Notre Dame needed, and the Irish forced a punt.

The Sooners scored first off a 28-yard field goal, but Notre Dame tailback Cierre Wood broke through the pack on the next possession and scored on a career-high 62-yard run.

The Sooners and Irish exchanged a pair of field goals to give Notre Dame the 4-point lead at the half. Notre Dame’s defensive effort has been helmed by Manti Te’o, who has 11 tackles (two for loss) and a sack in the first two quarters.

Oklahoma receiver Jalen Saunders has eight receptions — all of which came in the first quarter — for 82 yards. TJ Jones leads the Irish with three catches for 35 yards.

Irish quarterback Everett Golson is 5-11 for 55 yards and three carries for 24 yards in the half, while Notre Dame running back Wood has five carries for 66 yards (62 of which came on his touchdown run).

Notre Dame will get the ball to start the second half.
