Elkhart Circuit Court

• Anthony Sharp, 18, of 1618 William Henry Lane, Goshen, appeared for an attorney status conference. He told Judge Terry Shewmaker his family was no longer planning to get an attorney. Shewmaker found Sharp indigent and appointed him a public defender. Sharp is one of four teenagers charged with felony murder as a result of an attempted burglary Oct. 23.

• Michelle Pappilli, 41, of 24431 C.R. 6, Elkhart, pleaded guilty to dealing in methamphetamine, a class B felony. The plea was entered with a stipulated sentence of up to 14 years in prison, with six of those 14 years on probation. Pappilli admitted to knowingly manufacturing meth on Aug. 1. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21.

• Dorian Stephens, 40, of 29680 Ravenwood Blvd. B, Elkhart, appeared for a status conference before his trial, which was scheduled Nov. 5. However, his attorney, Stanley Wruble III, asked to be withdrawn from the case. Stephens agreed with the withdrawal and said he wanted time to find another lawyer. Shewmaker granted the attorney withdrawal and a continuance to the case over the state’s objection. Deputy prosecutor David Francisco argued there have already been several delays the defense has requested over a span of 18 months. Stephens is charged with three counts of dealing in narcotic drugs, all class D felonies. His trial was rescheduled for Feb. 4, 2013.
