MIDDLEBURY — A 5-year-old Middlebury boy was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne after being struck by a car on C.R. 22 between C.R. 35 and C.R. 37.

Betty Kauffman, 79, of Goshen, was driving a sedan south on C.R. 22 when the boy entered the roadway from the south side around 1:32 p.m. today, Oct. 25, according to Patrolman Matthew Walsh of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy had abrasions and reported loss of consciousness, but his injuries were non-life-threatening.

Kauffman’s car sustained minor front-end damage.
