March of Dames donates $14,000 to Maple City Health Care Center
The grant supports the center’s prenatal care during office visits, peer encouragement groups, assistance from doulas during delivery, postnatal care, home visits, breastfeeding assistance and screening for postpartum depression.
March of Dimes Indiana Chapter is part of a national campaign to prevent premature births. “The primary goal of our March of Dimes project is to increase the number of women who obtain prenatal care in the first three months of their pregnancy,” said James Nelson Gingerich, director of Maple City Health Care Center.
Assistance from March of Dimes also helps the center hire Spanish-speaking medical staff and provide affordable care for uninsured women.
Maple City Health Care Center is located at 213 Middlebury St. For more information visit www.mchcc.com.
