Support breast cancer research by attending these local activities
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Elkhart County and St. Joseph County area will have several events marking the occasion. Here is a round-up of upcoming events that will benefit breast cancer research, treatment and support.
What: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk
Where: Howard Park, East Jefferson Blvd., South Bend
When: 9:30 a.m. Oct. 27

What: Blood drive at the South Bend Medical Foundation
Details: South Bend Medical Foundation will donate $10 for each unit of blood collected to help support cancer services
Where: 530 N. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend
When: A celebration will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18. Blood donations will be taken throughout the month of October.

What: The Retreat’s 5th annual Decorated Bra Event
Where: 1135 Professional Drive, Goshen
When: Throughout the month of October people will be able to vote for their favorite design in person or at www.GoshenBraContest.org. The Retreat requests a minimum contribution of $1 per vote.
Proceeds: HeartString Sisters, a program that gives free mammograms for eligible local women
