GOSHEN — Whitehorse, a Canadian folk duo, is returning to Goshen’s Ignition Music/Garage for the second time this year. The group was recently nominated for three Canadian Folk Music Awards for their debut album “Whitehorse.” Their new album, “The Fate Of The World Depends On This Kiss,” was released in Canada in August and will be released in the U.S. on Jan. 15.

The band will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday. The performance will be a member-only show. Ignition Music/Garage has recently launched a membership campaign that will offer special benefits for those who sign up, including member-only shows. There is currently a discounted $25 membership available before Sunday if you want to go to the Whitehorse show. After Sunday, membership will be $50.

Melissa McClelland said she and her bandmate and husband, Luke Doucet, thought that their first show in Goshen in March was one of the most memorable stops on their U.S. tour. They spent a couple hours before the show checking out the record collection in Ignition Music.

“There’s more of a cold vibe (in big cities) as opposed to when you go to Goshen and play a venue like that,” she said.

The group has impressive credentials. Doucet received a nomination for a Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album Of The Year in 2006. In 2006 McClelland won the Independent Music Award for Best Americana Song.

The group will perform songs from their debut album as well as newer material. If you’re expecting a quiet folk duo, McClelland said to be prepared for a louder sound. While some bands think they need to tour only big cities to make touring cost-effective, McClelland said she’s found that people come out in smaller towns. “When you come to a smaller place, people are more appreciative,” she said. “Sometimes those shows are the standout shows for us.”
