Football tourney pairings leave intriguing matchups

Concord has a tough first-round draw, Jimtown has a potential monster matchup in the semifinals and NorthWood gets a rematch.
But the biggest local rematch of the first-round sectional pairings for the state football tournament features Central playing rival Memorial again. The Blazers rolled over the Chargers 51-3 in the opening week of the season.
First-round tourney games are set for Friday, Oct. 19. Statewide pairings were made Sundayin Indianapolis.
The Minutemen, who are going for a third-straight NLC crown this week at Warsaw, will travel to East Noble in Class 4A.
The Jimmies, top-ranked in Class 3A, will play at home to Fort Wayne Concordia (2-6), but with a win, could play once-beaten Garrett on the road in the second round.
In 4A, NorthWood will travel to Plymouth this week with the Rockies looking for a share of the NLC title. The same two rivals will play in Nappanee to open the sectional the following Friday.
