First Goshen CROP Walk raises $8,500
A total of 51 people came out to Shanklin Park in a show of concern for the needy in Elkhart County and around the world.
The walk raised at least $8,500 according to organizer Ed Swartley. Combined with the donations from the Elkhart event, race-day donations reached nearly $30,000 despite the chilly temperatures and light rain.
CROP Hunger Walk is an annual event that benefits Church World Service. A quarter of the funds raised Sunday in Goshen and Elkhart benefit Church Community Services, which provides programs for the needy in Elkhart County. The other 75 percent of funds go to CWS and are applied to its global programs.
