Bethany wins third straight boys soccer sectional
Bethany Christian spread the wealth, with six players figuring in three goals, as the Bruins blanked the host team 3-0 in Saturday afternoon’s Class 1A Marian Sectional boys soccer championship game.
Josh Stolzfus, Nate Nussbaum and Tyler Brenneman each potted first-half scores as the Bruins, under first-year coach Mark Yoder, captured their third-straight sectional crown. Andrew Snyder, Lucas Morgan and Caleb Morris contributed the assists.
Bethany (14-5) earned a spot in Thursday’s LaVille Regional semifinals at Newton Park.
In the 2A South Bend Adams Sectional, Edson Zamora scored twice to lead Penn to a 2-0 victory over South Bend Riley. Andrew Costello had eight saves to post the shutout for the Kingsmen
Penn, now 10-8, advances to play Central Thursday in the Mishawaka Regional.
