Police identify man shot in Goshen

GOSHEN — The man shot in Goshen Friday evening has been identified as Michael Edwards, 44, who is expected to recover from his wounds, according to a press release from the Goshen Police Department.

Police were called Friday around 6:12 p.m. to the area of Clinton Street and Riverside Boulevard in regard to a shooting. Officers located Edwards lying on the ground behind his home on the 1300 block of Clinton Street with multiple gunshot wounds.

Edwards was taken to the area of Grace Community church where he was then airlifted for further care at a South Bend hospital.

Edwards told police he was standing in his yard when he was approached by a young man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Edwards said he believes the suspect was attempting to commit robbery when he was shot.
