Injured Middlebury teen returns home

MIDDLEBURY — A 17-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident this summer is back home after recovering in Indianapolis.

Zion Carlstrom has returned to Middlebury almost three months after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle on C.R. 35 near U.S. 20. Since the accident, Carlstrom has undergone speech and physical therapies at a rehabilitation center in Indianapolis.

The driver in the accident, Pasquale Rulli, stepped forward July 11. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident.
