BRISTOL — Maintenance on natural gas pipelines may cause minor disturbances for some Elkhart County residents Monday evening.

TransCanada’s ANR Pipeline plans to perform hydrostatic testing on the section of the pipeline in Elkhart County, southwest of the intersection of Highway 120 and C.R. 39 from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., according to a press release from TransCanada. Residents may notice heavy equipment and hear noise and feel vibrations from the maintenance.

ANR operates the 22-inch diameter pipeline that carries natural gas to the Midwest. The company will use hydrostatic testing, which involves replacing the gas in the pipe with water under high pressure, to test the integrity of the pipeline.

In LaGrange County, the pipeline will be tested in the area of Highway 20 and C.R. 250 extending to State Highway 1100 from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Areas of the pipeline running through DeKalb and Steuben counties will be tested the following week.
