Warsaw boys soccer forfeits turn Concord into NLC champion

WARSAW — No. 2-ranked Warsaw is forfeiting nine wins and one tie in boys soccer, and Concord becomes the 2012 Northern Lakes Conference champion as a result.

Warsaw athletic director Dave Anson said the forfeits are due to his office not completing a transfer report required by the IHSAA for a student who played in those 10 games. Warsaw self-reported the mistake and the student has since been ruled eligible.

Anson said he takes “complete responsibility for this error” and emphasized that the student “did absolutely nothing wrong.”

The AD said the forfeited games include NLC wins over Memorial, NorthWood and Plymouth as well as the tie against Concord.

The revised standings leave Concord in front at 6-1. The Minutemen thus edge out Goshen, which went 4-0-3, and did not have its tie against Warsaw revised. The Tigers, who had been 5-0-2, instead finish 2-4-1.
