PORTAGE — Valparaiso claimed all three single matches Wednesday to knock Penn out of the state tournament with a 3-2 victory in the Portage Regional boys tennis final.

Penn’s unbeaten No. 1 doubles team of Brad Walter and Sean Anderson defeated the Vikings’ Jared Folke and Peter Williams 6-0, 6-0. Walter and Anderson advance into individual tournament play. The Kingsmen’s Connor McCarthy and George Hamilton posted Penn’s other point at No. 2 doubles.

Penn was coming off a 3-2 victory over South Bend St. Joseph in the semifinals a day earlier.

Straight-set winners for the Kingsmen in that match were Michael Wang 6-3, 6-2 at 1 singles, Isaac Seesel 6-1, 6-3 at 2 singles, and Walter and Anderson 6-1, 6-0 at 1 doubles.
