WILKESBORO, N.C. — Mr. David Layton Poorbaugh, 69, of Wilkesboro, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro.

Entombment is in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Poorbaugh was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Elkhart, Ind., to John Milton Sr. and Joyce Pippenger Poorbaugh.

He was a real estate broker with Carolina Realty, where he was named realtor of the year in 2011.

He loved music and played the trombone in church and in a big band.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Miller Poorbaugh; daughter Jennine (Jeff) Failing of Winston-Salem; sister Louise (Dick) Jones of Elkhart; brothers John (Phyllis) Poorbaugh Jr. of Twain Harte, Calif., and Earl Poorbaugh of Estero, Fla.
