Two arrested, one killed in Elkhart burglary

ELKHART — One person was killed and two others were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a burglary.

Police were called around 2:30 p.m. to a burglary in progress at 1919 Frances Ave. According to dispatchers, the caller and homeowner, said some people had forced entry to his residence, and shots were fired.

Two people who were not residents of 1919 Frances Ave., were shot.

Danzele Jermaine Johnson, 21, of Goshen, was shot and killed inside the residence.

A male juvenile was also shot and taken to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was later arrested at the Elkhart Police Department.

Two other people ran from the residence, according to the homeowner. After a short chase, police arrested one juvenile at the 1800 block of Frances Avenue. Both juveniles arrested have a preliminary charge of murder.
