ELKHART — James Howard Moore II, 93, of Elkhart, formerly of Bluffton, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1919, in Carlyle, Mont., to James Howard and Minnie A. (Gibson) Moore. He married Vera Ruth (Stewart) Moore on Jan. 24, 1942, in Wakarusa and she died July 12, 2009.
Surviving are a son, James Howard (Susan) Moore III of Ames, Iowa; daughter Anita (Paul Eugene) Hoffman of Elkhart; sisters Marjory Wise and Norma Berkey, both of Goshen, and Betty Green of Bluffton; brother Donald Moore of Berne; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; sisters, infant Arvilla, Georgia Mast, Jean Blem and Emily Russell; and brothers Forrest and Richard Moore.
James worked at Johnson Machine and Press, owned Moore’s Sawmill and was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.
He was the volunteer head of construction for Bristol Church of the Nazarene in 1978.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Jamestown United Methodist Church, with the service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery at a later date.
