GOSHEN — Hundreds of properties were auctioned off Tuesday at Elkhart County’s annual tax sale.

Close to 200 people gathered at the Elkhart County Administration Building in Goshen to bid on pieces of land that have back taxes owed to the county. SRI Inc., an Indianapolis firm that led the tax sale, estimated that 770 parcels were up for bid.

County treasurer Larry Ernest was still tallying up the tax sale’s results when his office closed at 4 p.m on Tuesday.
