MICHIGAN CITY — A two-vehicle crash has killed an Indiana Toll Road maintenance worker and a motorist.

Indiana State Police says a speeding, erratically driven SUV crashed Tuesday morning into 52-year-old Toll Road worker Daniel Miller of LaPorte and a maintenance pickup parked on a shoulder of the Toll Road.

Miller died at the scene, and the SUV driver died at a South Bend hospital. The name of the SUV driver was withheld until family could be notified.

Police say the crash also left 49-year-old Toll Road worker Kevin Standefer of LaPorte hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred near the highway’s 40-mile marker near Michigan City. Police say the pickup had warning lights and a warning arrow board activated, and signs behind the truck warned approaching motorists of work ahead.
