Motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run accident north of Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident at C.R. 39 and C.R. 4, in northeast Elkhart County this morning, Sept. 28.

Robert Perkey, 57, of Elkhart, was riding his motorcycle eastbound on C.R. 4 west of C.R. 39 near the Indiana-Michigan line just after 4:30 a.m. A vehicle traveling westbound on C.R. 4 turned south onto C.R. 39 in front of Perkey. Perkey crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle, damaging both that vehicle and his motorcycle.

Perkey was thrown from his motorcycle while the other vehicle left the scene.

He was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital and treated for a cut to his leg and complaint of pain to his left arm.
