KENDALLVILLE — Penn had to wait a couple extra days to celebrate a 14th girls golf regional title.

The Jim Garrett-coached Kingsmen hoisted the East Noble Regional trophy Monday at Cobblestone Golf Course after wet weather Saturday forced postponement of the event.

The top three of 18 teams — Penn (323), Rochester (338) and Marion (339) — are bound for the IHSAA State Finals. NorthWood (368) finished ninth while Marian (385) came in 13th and Elkhart Central (395) 16th.

Penn, which now has a streak of five straight sectional crowns, was led by Kari Bellville’s 73 — two strokes behind repeat regional medalist Katie Sharp of East Noble. Other Kingsmen include Katie Willenbrink (83), Emily Song (83), Madison Chesnutt (84) and Audrey Henderson (87).

Also headed to The Legends of Indiana in Franklin, where the State Finals’ first round is set for Friday, are to top five individuals not on the top five teams. That group includes Fairfield’s Mary Shipley (79).
