ELKHART — With a treasure trove of creative events taking place in Elkhart this month, the theme of Wednesday’s ArtWalk is fitting: Celebrate the arts.

The ArtWalk will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Elkhart.

The headquarters for the ArtWalk will be at 215 S. Main St., Elkhart. People will be able to pick up maps there and vote for their favorite artists. The Flower Carpet will be on display, and “Home and Habitat” with Carrie Newcomer and Philip Gulley will be at the Lerner Theatre.

Artists will be demonstrating their work in downtown storefronts. There will also be street performers around the downtown area and children’s art activities on the Civic Plaza.

“It’s a nice way to get over the midweek hump,” promotions coordinator Gina Leichty said.

About 2,000 people came to the last ArtWalk in July, according to Leichty. She thinks there will be a similar turnout at Wednesday’s event. This will be the second-to-last ArtWalk of the year. The last one will be on Nov. 28.

Here is a list of what you can expect on Wednesday:

• That’s Dancing dance studio will host dance classes at 6 p.m. (swing dancing) and 7 p.m. (rumba). The That’s Dancing’s Junior Team will also perform on the Civic Plaza at 5:30 p.m. while the advanced teams will perform at 7:15 p.m.

• Food specials from Stirred, Daily Grind and b on the River. Vintage store Mod Closet will have a 25 percent sale on select items.

• Downtown loft tours will be available at 230 S. Main St., 526 S. Main St. and 700 S. Main St.

• 7,000 pots of mums will be on display near the RiverWalk.

• IUSB Dancers will perform at 6:30 p.m. on the Civic Plaza.
