With its tough win Saturday night over rival Michigan, Notre Dame finds itself in the top 10 of the Associated Press college football poll for the first time since 2006.

The 4-0 Irish jumped into the No. 10 spot with 1,003 points, just behind No. 9 West Virginia (3-0) with 1,045. Notre Dame was ranked No. 11 the week before. Total points are based on 25 points for a first-place vote, through one point for a 25th-place vote. Associated Press sportswriters vote in the weekly ranking of college football teams.

In the USA Today Top 25 football coaches poll, Notre Dame rose from No. 15 to No. 11 with the win Saturday. With the loss, Michigan (2-2) has dropped out of the top 25 in both polls.

Notre Dame's next opponent, Miami, is unranked in both polls.
