Driver, employee injured after car hits Steak 'n Shake

Goshen police are investigating a single vehicle accident at Steak and Shake Restaurant on US 33. A Ford SUV hit a corner of the building. The driver of the vehicle as well as one person on the scene were transported to hospital.

Police and fire units were called to 4025 Elkhart Road at 8:36 a.m. after the crash. Smoke was seen after the accident.
According to a release from the Goshen Police Department, Bryan E. Yoder, 52, of Goshen, was at the ATM at Lake City Bank, 4202 Elkhart Road, when he accidentally accelerated over the curb. Yoder’s Ford Explorer then ran over a tree before crashing into the Steak ‘n Shake.
Yoder was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital for a head injury, but it was not life-threatening according to the report.
Dwana Hershberger, 44, of Elkhart, was working inside the building when the vehicle hit the side. According to police, several boxes and shelves fell on Hershberger and she was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital complaining of back pain and trouble breathing. Her injuries were also not life-threatening.
