ELKHART — Mary Beck Elementary received a $2,000 Youth Literacy Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Grants are awarded in the beginning of the school year to assist with new or expanding youth literacy programs, to purchase new technology and other equipment, or to purchase books, software and other materials for programs.

The Foundation awarded more than $2 million to 564 nonprofit organizations, community groups, schools and libraries throughout the country.
