Joseph Buelna, 125 N. West Blvd., Elkhart, was convicted of manufacturing meth, a Class A felony, after the jury heard evidence from an investigation by members of the Elkhart Police Department.
According to the investigation, police found Buelna manufacturing meth in a vacant house on which he had been hired to make garage repairs. They also found Nathan Slabach, of 3038 W 850 S. Bunker Hill, Ind., manufacturing meth.
Slabach pleaded guilty in 2009 to manufacturing meth and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Buelna made the argument that though he was found manufacturing meth, it was not his, but Slabach’s. However, evidence showed Buelna’s involvement in the process.
Buelna’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. in Superior Court 3.
