Major Action: Approved closing of several streets, sidewalks and parking spaces for upcoming events.
North 8th Street between Center Street and Summit Street will be closed between 2 and 4 p.m. Sept. 30 for the Chamberlain Neighborhood Association’s community picnic.
The intersections of 10th Street and U.S. 33, 10th Street and Reynolds Street and East Purl Street at the 9th Street railroad intersection will be closed from noon to 11 p.m. Sept. 8 for the Goshen band invitational.
The sidewalk along Main Street at First Source Bank will be closed during work hours while Ziolkowski Construction, Inc. works on the building. The company hopes to start work today, Sept. 29, and expects that phase of the project to take about a week.
Six parking spaces will be closed on East Washington Street Sept. 9 for a performer’s motor home and trailer. The performer has a concert at Ignition Music and will be using the spaces from 2 through 10 p.m.
Two parking spaces each will be closed on Jefferson Street and 5th Street while Zehr Construction makes repairs to First United Methodist Church. The sections will not be closed at the same time and the project is expected to take three to four weeks. The company hopes to begin work Sept. 4.
Other Actions:
• Approved the city’s purchase of an ambulance from SJC Industries Corp. doing business as McCoy Miller for $244,735.50.
• Gave Kroger permission to raise funds for the Making Strides Cancer Walk at the corner of Bashor Road and Greene Road Oct. 13 and 14.
• Noted the rescheduling of the Sept. 3 Board of Public Works meeting to Friday due to the Labor Day holiday.
