U.S. 20 Bypass traffic slowed by semi-car crash

ELKHART — Traffic in the eastbound lanes of the U.S. 20 Bypass southwest of the city was slowed this afternoon, Aug. 28, after a car hit the back of a semi trailer, according to Elkhart County police.

The crash happenend around 4:30 p.m. as the semi was slowing to pull onto the shoulder of the highway. A car behind the semi did not slow in time and hit the semi.

One of the people in the car was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries. The other person in the car and the semi driver were not hurt.

Traffic was restricted to one lane on the U.S. 20 Bypass near the Elkhart County line for a period.
