Elkhart County household hazardous waste collection slated for Saturday
The Solid Waste Management District of Elkhart County will sponsor a household hazardous waste collection at the facility near the intersection of C.R. 7 and C.R. 26 (enter off of C.R. 7), according to a press release from the district.
Acceptable waste that can be dropped off also includes gasoline, pesticides, medications and household cleaners. If possible, materials should be in the original labeled containers. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted.
Electronics, tires, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, etc., will not be accepted, but residents needing to dispose of those items can call the solid waste management office for recycling information. Latex paint and alkaline batteries, neither of which are considered hazardous waste, are no longer accepted in this collection.
Another household hazardous waste collection will be Oct. 6.
