INDIANAPOLIS — Esther Merrick, 87, passed quietly into the care of God on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Nellie (Gray) Tauscher. She had resided at Miller’s Senior Living Community since last October.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Welmer Merrick, and her brother Clifford Tauscher.
She leaves two sons, the Hon. Thomas E. Merrick of Jamestown, N.D., and the Rev. Eugene F. Merrick of Indianapolis; granddaughter Mayra (Wayne) Baldwin of Berea, Ky.; grandson Nathan Merrick of Indianapolis; great-grandsons Joshua, Jacob and Justin Baldwin; great-great-granddaughter Nolah Grace Baldwin; nieces Eleanor Mertz, Cindy Dye and Patty Baum, all of Toledo, Ohio; and nephew Thomas Tauscher of Toledo.
She graduated from South Dakota School for the Deaf, was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church and retired from Domore Furniture company. She enjoyed knitting and crafts.
Family and friends will gather from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, for visitation in the Leppert Mortuary Nora Chapel, with the funeral service at 10 a.m., followed by a cemetery chapel service at 2:30 p.m. at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
Donations may be made in her name to Christian Life Church of the Deaf.
