Nappanee man flown to hospital after car-bike crash

NAPPANEE — A Nappanee man was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend after being struck by a car while riding his bike Wednesday morning.

Josey Slabaugh, 21, was riding his bicycle east on U.S. 6 near C.R. 100 around 5 a.m., when a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Dion Beadin, 29, struck his bicycle from behind.

Slabaugh suffered lacerations and complaint of pain to the head. The Elkhart Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the collision.
