Police did not release any reports on the shooting, but a spokesperson for Elkhart Police said an adult male was treated and released from an area hospital and that a girl who was also shot remains hospitalized at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
The shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. at 720 Kilbourn St., west of North Riverside Drive on Elkhart's west side.
Family members at the house were confronted by three people, according to a neighbor.
Iverson Grove, who lives across the street, declined to identify the victims, but said he was told the girl who was shot is about 7 years old. He said she was shot in the head and was in critical condition late Saturday afternoon.
He said he was told three assailants ran south after the shooting.
