Wakarusa man charged for overpurchase of pseudoephedrine

Ross Priest, 18, of 305 E. Harrison St, Wakarusa, is scheduled to appear for his initial hearing Friday, Aug. 17, in Superior Court 5.
Priest was arrested Monday night on preliminary charges of possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine precursors and manufacturing methamphetamine. He had been stopped on C.R. 26 at Circle R lane for a traffic violation.
A story published Wednesday incorrectly stated that Priest had been arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine.
Priest was booked at the Elkhart County Jail at midnight Monday and was released Friday.
The charge of overpurchase of pseudoephedrine is a class C misdemeanor. Pseudoephedrine is used to relieve nasal congestion caused by colds, allergies and hay fever, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information. It is also a sought-out precursor for manufacturing methamphetamine.
