ELKHART — Elkhart General Hospital Foundation recently awarded $120,000 in scholarship money for the 2012 academic year.

Scholarship amounts ranged from $1,000 to $6,000 and were awarded to students seeking degrees and continuing education in nursing, respiratory, radiology, ultrasound, health information management and tumor registry.

The following students won individual grants: Ann BeMiller, Candie Books, Kenneth Burrow, Rebecca Caples, Misty Charles, Pamela Chubb, Teneen Clark, Brandie Clarke, Kristen Cornish, Catherine Dos Santos, Jill Eigsti, Carol Ellison, Ryan Eriksen, Lana Evans, Jessica Fleck, Katie Ganger, Roberta Gooding, Amanda Higley, Celesta Holden, Jennifer Horn, Ashley Kehr, Wendy Kendrix, Andrea Miller, Lori Mills, Jessica Molen, Laura Overs, Zachary Pierce, Renee Pugh, Johna Radford, Kayla Roberts, Jordan Taylor, Kathryn Tucker, Jonna Whiteman, Dawn Windbigler and Kayle Zimmerle.



LAKE FOREST, ILL. — Chloe Duprat of Granger, Ind., was named to the dean’s list for the 2011-12 academic year at Lake Forest College.



GOSHEN — Three local students participated in Goshen College’s eight-week Maple Scholars program this summer. The students spent June and July working with professors on various research projects.

Philip Bontrager of Goshen is an informatics major. He worked with mathematics professor David Housman on a project developing visualizations to assist in better understanding notions of fairness and their interrelationships in resource allocation problems.

Lisa Horst of Goshen is a 2012 graduate who majored in music education. She worked with music professor Debra Brubaker on a project archiving and digitizing field recordings that professor emeritus Mary Oyer recorded between 1969 and 1987.

Kate Yoder of Elkhart is an art and English writing major. She worked with history professor John D. Roth on a project compiling an in-depth bibliography of sources related to Christian martyrdom, the “Martyrs Mirror,” and costly discipleship in the Anabaptist-Mennonite tradition in preparation for an August international consultation called “Bearing Witness: A New ‘Martyrs Mirror’ for the 21st Century?”
