Wakarusa teen arrested for having meth precursors

A Wakarusa teenager was arrested Monday night after he was found with methamphetamine, according to a police report.

Ross Priest, 18, of 305 E. Harrison St., Wakarusa, was stopped around 11:30 p.m. for a traffic violation on C.R. 26 at Circle R Lane. Upon further investigation, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department arrested Priest on preliminary charges of possession of stolen property, possession of meth, and possession of precursors to manufacture meth.

Priest was booked at the Elkhart County Jail, where he is being held without a bond.

Editor's note: Police said Priest didn't have methamphetamine, but had precursors. Officials only filed a formal charge on overpurchase of pseudoephedrine. A story published Wednesday incorrectly stated that Priest had been arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine. We regret the error.
