Five sworn in as ECSD officers

A swearing-in ceremony was held at 1:30 p.m. in Circuit Court at the Elkhart County Courthouse.
Before the ceremony, Sheriff Brad Rogers reminded the new officers of the importance of their promise.
“It’s a solemn oath we take to uphold the United States Consitution and, in our case, the Constitution of the State of Indiana,” he said.
Judge Terry Shewmaker then led the officers in the oath.
The new officers are:
• Patrol Officer Casey Polachek graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 2003 and attended Southwestern Michigan College and Indiana Tech.
• Corrections Officer Trenton St. Germain is a 2009 graduate of Goshen High School. He attended Vincennes University and IU Health Goshen Hospital.
• Corrections Officer Patrick Morganthaler graduated from Wawasee High School in 1982 and attended Vincennes University.
• Corrections Officer Shane Mishler is a 1991 graduate of Westview High School and attended Glen Oaks Community College.
• Corrections Officer Joshua Payne graduated from Goshen High School in 2009. He is transferring from Elkhart County Community Corrections.
