Crews continued Tuesday afternoon to restore power to residents throughout Cass County after a storm that rolled through northern Indiana and southwest Michigan on Tuesday morning left more than 4,000 homes without service.

Patty Nowlin, director of communication and community relations for Midwest Energy Cooperative, said in a statement that any residences remaining without service are encouraged to contact Midwest Energy Cooperative at 800-492-5989.

Two substations had been affected, leaving residences primarily in Cass and Van Buren counties without power.

Few homes were affected in Elkhart County, and as of Tuesday afternoon, maps from NIPSCO and Indiana Michigan Power showing reported outages did not display any for Elkhart County.
