Medtec Ambulance Corp., which closed its Goshen plant a little more than a year ago and moved operations to Florida, will cease production by January 2013.

The closing of the production line in Bradenton, Fla., is expected to result in the loss of 325 jobs.

The company announced last week it had stopped taking orders for any new ambulances.

The company blamed shrinking municipal budgets on declining profits as cities and towns have chosen to cut spending on new emergency vehicles, parent company Oshkosh Corp, according to a report in the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald newspaper’s online website.

When the company closed its facilities in Goshen and White Pigeon, Mich., it resulted in the loss of about 175 jobs between the two plants.

The company had a presence in Goshen since the mid 1970s.
