The investigation into a man who was taking photos of girls at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair is still ongoing.

On Wednesday, July 5,, attendees at the saddle club noticed that a man was taking photographs. They became concerned about his motives, according to Bradberry. After officers spoke to the man, they also became concerned and found some questionable material in his vehicle.

“At this point he’s just a suspect,” said Captain Jim Bradberry from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The officers did not feel comfortable in making an arrest at that point. They did issue a “no trespass warning,” so if he returns, he can be arrested for trespass. Bradberry said they have to make sure they have enough evidence to arrest the man.

“That’s where it becomes difficult,” he said.

“The Elkhart County 4-H Fair places a very high priority on the safety of all our patrons,” the fair said in a statement issued Friday evening. “Since this is an ongoing criminal investigation no comments from fair officials can be made at this time.”
